Log Procurement Manager (Forestry, Logging & Mill Operations)

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Purchasing quality log volume to meet the needs of the Weed facility through private deliveries and timber sales.
• Responsible for managing the process of log and fuel delivery to the mill as well as the sale and delivery of residual logs and products to third party customers from these opportunities
• Provide active and ongoing feedback as to market conditions, pricing and availabilities
• Strong commitment to safety 
• Collaborate with mill site receiving and scaling staff to ensure that grade and quality requirements are met
• Proficiently and accurately cruise standing timber to support sourcing initiatives.
• Ensure that log purchase goals and allocation targets are met by working closely with the plant manager
• Development and cultivation of working relationships with suppliers to include negotiating prices, purchasing and grading logs
• Work to monitor and manage all levels of raw material costs and quality
• Ensure log quality targets are achieved
• Ensure all transactions are properly documented and distributed
• Model company core values

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Forestry or Forestry related sciences
• 5+ years of work experience
• Familiarity with Northern California logging, road construction, log scaling and operational forestry
• Timber cruising experience
• Excellent written, verbal, listening and interpersonal skills
• Strong negotiation skills
• Ability to work in and maintain a highly functional team environment
• Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Self-starter that is highly motivated and capable of working independently without supervision
• Solid understanding of plywood and lumber manufacturing
• Excellent driving and safety record
