Log Measurement Technician - Big River, SK

THE QUALIFICATIONS:

The Log Measurement Technician will be a detail oriented individual with a proactive attitude.  They will have the ability to work well with others at all levels and should be a motivated self-starter who is comfortable working alone.  This is a physical job working outdoors in all weather conditions.

The following qualifications are preferred:

• Skilled with relevant Microsoft Suite programs (Excel, Word, Access)
• Minimum 6 months experience in a mill or forestry setting
• Comfortable with technology and an aptitude for computers

THE DUTIES:

• Monitors and measures the dimensions and quality attributes of logs delivered to the yard
• Compares dimensions and quality attributes of logs against both Woodlands contracts and Company log quality specifications
• Maintains records and statistics related to measurement and quality issues; and analyses data
• Assists in the continuing development of company log quality attributes and specifications, and recommends appropriate bonuses and penalties for logs not meeting the Company’s standards.
• Assists the Woodlands staff in the operation of the scale
• Assists the Government Check Scaler as required, spreading or picking up scale loads with equipment.
• Weekend inventory counts of lumber and logs
• This position is a term contract
