Log Measurement Technician - Big River, SK
THE QUALIFICATIONS:
The Log Measurement Technician will be a detail oriented individual with a proactive attitude. They will have the ability to work well with others at all levels and should be a motivated self-starter who is comfortable working alone. This is a physical job working outdoors in all weather conditions.
The following qualifications are preferred:
- Skilled with relevant Microsoft Suite programs (Excel, Word, Access)
- Minimum 6 months experience in a mill or forestry setting
- Comfortable with technology and an aptitude for computers
THE DUTIES:
- Monitors and measures the dimensions and quality attributes of logs delivered to the yard
- Compares dimensions and quality attributes of logs against both Woodlands contracts and Company log quality specifications
- Maintains records and statistics related to measurement and quality issues; and analyses data
- Assists in the continuing development of company log quality attributes and specifications, and recommends appropriate bonuses and penalties for logs not meeting the Company’s standards.
- Assists the Woodlands staff in the operation of the scale
- Assists the Government Check Scaler as required, spreading or picking up scale loads with equipment.
- Weekend inventory counts of lumber and logs
- This position is a term contract
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience.
