As an integral member of our Resource Inventory Group you will be responsible for assisting senior inventory staff complete all aspects of forest inventory projects – both standard and customized – throughout the province of British Columbia and other regions of Canada.

The position includes work in both field and office environments. The field activities involved include ground and air calibration sample establishment, GPS navigation, and working and driving in remote areas. The office activities include project planning, and photo interpretation and delineation to appropriate provincial inventory and company standards. Both work environments require compliance with our comprehensive occupational health and safety program, producing quality work on budget and on time, and communicating effectively and working collaboratively with fellow staff and clients.

Additionally, the successful candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Have a Class 5 driver’s license and clean driving record;
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada;
  • The ability to view images in stereo / 3-dimensions and in color is mandatory;
  • Proficient in computer use, with excellent oral and written communication skills; and
  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience working in an operational forestry related field.

Other Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with British Columbia’s Vegetation Resource Inventory (VRI), Biogeoclimatic Ecosystem Classification (BEC) and Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM);
  • The following experience would be considered an asset:
    – Experience with 3D softcopy software, GIS software and MS Office applications
    – Experience in stratifying aerial photographs in a digital and/or hard copy environment
    – Experience with Python and SQL
