JOURNEYMAN MECHANIC POSITION

Brisco Wood Preservers Ltd., a major Canadian Pole Producer of CCA treated wood poles to Western utilities and communications companies, is seeking to hire a Journeyman Mechanic for our plant in Peers, AB.

Our main treating facility is located just north of Radium Hot Springs in the beautiful Columbia Valley in British Columbia. Brisco Wood Preservers’ second treating facility and Dowel Post Plant are located in Peers, Alberta. In addition to our pole manufacturing, Post Production and treating, Brisco also produces large engineered beams from LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) in our laminating plant Brisco Manufacturing Ltd. Brisco sells treated Poles, posts, rails, plywood and lumber and we also custom treat a variety of wood products.

General Summary:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Journeyman Mechanic is required to repair and maintain a variety of mobile equipment and machinery and other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform tasks efficiently focusing on Safety, Quality and Production while meeting deadlines.
• Repair and maintain fleet of mobile equipment such as Forklift, Wheel Loaders, Pickups, Dozer and Excavator.
• Ordering Parts.
• Waste Oil Management.
• Managing Consumables
• Communicating with equipment suppliers and manufacturers.
• Developing a preventative maintenance program.
• Work effectively together with assigned crew.

Qualifications:

• Journeyman Mechanic
• Experience with a variety of mobile equipment (older equipment)
• Ability to follow direction and work together with others to complete assigned tasks.
• Self reliant, organized, motivated and quality oriented.
