The USITC will soon be recruiting to fill a position as an international trade analyst for forest products (e.g., logs, lumber, and other wood and related products).

Skills and Responsibilities

The ideal candidate is inquisitive and possesses strong researching, analytical, and communication (both written and oral) skills. The successful applicant will develop and maintain expertise pertaining to forest products and the industries that produce these products. The selected individual will apply this expertise in investigative studies analyzing the global competitiveness of U.S. industries, to advise the President and Congress on a variety of trade issues, and to provide information and assistance to the public and industry where appropriate. The individual will also participate in investigations involving complaints of injury to U.S. forest product industries from import competition.


Compensation

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $64,650 to $141,555, depending on the combination of education and experience. A master’s degree or above in forestry, economics, international affairs or a related field is preferred. This permanent position offers the full range of benefits, including participation in the Federal retirement system, eligibility to enroll for health benefits and life insurance, annual and sick leave, Federal holidays, and participation in the Federal Thrift Savings Plan. In addition, the USITC offers commuter subsidies and its location provides a variety of transportation options.
