Background

The Maritime Lumber Bureau (MLB)  is a non-profit association and accredited inspection agency servicing companies involved in the manufacture of lumber and secondary wood products in Atlantic Canada.  A core function of the MLB is to conduct regular inspections on lumber products and processes at member production facilities in the Atlantic Provinces under regulatory authority of the Canadian Lumber Standards Accreditation Board and the American Lumber Standards Committee.   

Position

The MLB is seeking a candidate with a background and working knowledge in wood products processing, lumber grading and quality control for the position of Inspector for the Maritime Lumber Bureau in Amherst, Nova Scotia.

The successful candidate will report to the Quality Control Manager and/or Executive Director of the MLB and have responsibility for conducting inspections at member facilities in the Atlantic region to ensure regulatory compliance is maintained.  Other duties will include educating and monitoring member facilities on phytosanitary issues, instructing courses and ensuring accurate records are maintained and submitted on a regular basis . Ability to speak both official languages would be considered an asset.

  • possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel extensively in the Atlantic region
