INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE MECHANIC/MACHINIST

Job Description 
Maintain and keep all machines and equipment in a clean, safe and efficient operating condition to obtain uptime/runtime goals. Must perform duties on all equipment including but not limited to: cleaning, rigging, hoisting, dismantling, erecting, fabricating, installing, assembling, lining, adjusting, troubleshooting, specking of parts for repairing of machines, power shafting, hydraulics, pulleys, conveyor systems or any other duties/task as assigned.


Key Responsibilities
• Effectively assess preventative and predictive maintenance issues in sawmill/planer operations
• Diagnose problems and repair equipment
• Inspect and test run equipment after maintenance has been performed
• Align machines and equipment to required specifications 
• Monitor inventory of replacement parts


Skills and Knowledge 

• High school diploma or equivalent and valid driver's license
• 2 years training in Welding, Hydraulics, and Pneumatics in a vocational or technical post-secondary program or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3 years general millwright experience
• Prefer 3 years timber industry maintenance experience preferred
• Knowledge of computerized maintenance systems
• Must be proficient in all aspects of the maintenance position including but not limited to these six categories: 
   1) Safety /Rigging/Lubrication
   2) Welding: Gas & Arc
   3) Power Transmission/Gear Boxes
   4) Print Reading/Construction/Fabrication 
   5) Hydraulics/Air/Steam/Water
   6) Machinery Installation/Alignment

Must be proficient in welding (must pass welding test) and proficient in the use of trade tools (must supply own tools). Must work safely and follow company safety policies and procedures. Must understand and follow lock out/tag out policies for each job and task. Must be able to work overtime on short notice and holidays, as this is the opportune time to work on equipment. Must properly use the Computerized Maintenance Management System and Preventative systems.
