EACOM is one of the major producers in the Eastern Canadian timber industry. Operations include the manufacturing, marketing and distribution of lumber and wood-based value-added products, and the management of forest resources. EACOM currently owns seven sawmills (5 in Ontario, 2 in Quebec), a remanufacturing facility (Quebec) and a partnership operation in an engineered I joist plant (Ontario) for a total of 1000 employees.

The Company will grow and outperform its competitors by investing in strong assets, including healthy forests, advanced technology and talented people.

Thus, we are looking for a Human Resources Manager for our Ear Falls Sawmill, Ontario. Under the leadership of the Vice President Human Resources and working closely with the Plant Manager, the HR Manager is responsible for sourcing and developing talent, provide support and guidance to the plant’s management team on leadership, labour relations and human resource management issues and foster a culture of learning and collaboration through employee engagement.

Job Description:

·         Plan human resource needs with the supervisors of various operating departments;

·         Active participation in the recruitment process for both hourly and staff positions;

·         Active participation in the negotiation of collective agreements;

·         Lead the local employee engagement initiatives;

·         Coordinate and support the administration of professional development and employee training;

·         Counsel and assist other departmental managers in the interpretation and administration of policies, programs, collective agreements, in accordance with EACOM’s values and established processes;

·         Ensure that the company operates in compliance with labor laws;

·         Manage worker compensation claims and the local health and safety initiatives;

·         Responsible for the plant’s data integrity in the HRIS.

·         Computer skills. (Microsoft Office Suite)

·         Problem solving abilities.

·         Demonstrated organizational skills, leadership, autonomy and initiative.

·         Proven negotiation and communication skills.

·         Ability to coach and support in a learning environment. 

Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations or Business Administration.

·         4 to 7 years experience in a similar role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.

·         Member/Designation of a certified professional association in human resource field an asset.

·         Available for occasional travel.
