Due to an internal re-location, PF Olsen is seeking a Harvest Planner/Forest Engineer to be join our busy Engineering team. Based in our modern Head Office premises situated adjacent to the popular walking and cycling tracks of the Rotorua Redwoods, this position will prepare wood flow predictions and operational harvest plans in support of our harvesting operations. 

Duties will include:

  • Developing effective harvest plans for ground based and cable operations
  • Analysing harvesting options and undertaking assessments of environmental effects to support consent applications
  • Working with PF Olsen Forest Engineers to develop detailed road and landing designs
  • Reviewing effectiveness of harvest plans (contractor performance against planned outcomes)
  • Providing harvest planning and engineering design support to PF Olsen’s regional offices

To be successful you will:

  • Have considerable experience in harvest planning (for both ground based and cable operations)
  • Be proficient in the use of GIS, cable analysis software (CHPs) and road design software (RoadEng).
  • Have excellent communication/interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Have knowledge of forest harvesting systems and processes.
  • Very good computer skills.
