POSITION DETAILS:

Responsibilities include assisting with the completion of activities concerning the Authority’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The incumbent will be part of a team of eight recent, university graduates who will be working together on an environmental data management project.

The GIS Assistant is responsible for the development and maintenance of spatial data and associated databases, metadata, and information products. This position reports to the Director, Property and Approvals.

WHAT YOU OFFER:

  • Graduate Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Environmental Studies or related discipline.
  • Good mapping/cartographic skills, with a variety of vector and raster file formats.
  • Ability to interpret air photographs.
  • Training and/or experience with ESRI GIS software and other software, operating systems, and data formats.
  • Ability and aptitude for field work, including occasionally working under physically demanding conditions.
  • Enthusiasm, determination and the ability to work in both team–oriented and independent situations.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and team-oriented skills.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.
  • Valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License.

LOCATION: The SNC office is in a rural location in Finch, Ontario, southeast of Ottawa. The successful candidate must have reliable transportation.
