Geomatics Technician (IT, Computers & GIS)

Position Summary:

This full time position is primarily office work based in Prince George; some field work may be required. As a self-directed and motivated individual, you will perform a wide range of technical work in the development and maintenance of GIS data, applications, procedures and standards; and in the production of mapping information within a GIS environment. This role requires a professional approach and exceptional communication abilities in responding to co-worker and client requests.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operational Mapping
• Generation of maps and other GIS reports and information products
• Conversion, input, and editing of data as part of ongoing spatial data maintenance
• GPS data downloading and processing
• Perform accurate work within a timeframe
• Other GIS related duties

Minimum Requirements:

• GIS Diploma or Degree in a related field
• Software experience with ESRI ArcGIS (2+ years)
• ArcGIS server experience is an asset
• Trimble Forest (formerly Cengea Resources) software experience is an asset
• Knowledge and understanding of Geodatabases
• Forestry field experience is an asset
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work well in a team, manage multiple priorities, and work under tight deadlines
• Flexibility in working conditions and assignments; willingness to learn and share new skills
