End date:  August 11, 2017 and flexible depending on employee needs with possible extension for those with completed degrees depending on company work load.

Job Description / Requirements:

Shultz Forest Management and Consulting LLC is seeking applicants to fill a full time (40hrs/week) seasonal Forestry Technician position.

The primary activities the position will be involved in will include forest management, forest restoration through timber stand improvement and invasive plant control, and wetland restoration.

This is a labor-intensive field position, and the successful applicant should expect to spend >90% of their time working outdoors, must be able to carry a 30 pound pack over various terrain, and work in all weather conditions.

Typical duties include herbicide application, timber inventories, tree regeneration and invasive plant surveys, selecting and marking timber for sale, GPS mapping, and other duties as assigned. The position will include some overnight travel for which employee will be compensated.

Applicant should be able to identify eastern U.S. tree species and preferably invasive plant species common to the area as well.  

A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Forestry or two years of college in a forestry program is required.

Previous work experience in the forestry profession is preferred but not required depending on course work.

The position will require the successful applicant to acquire their PA commercial herbicide applicator’s license within one month of starting the position if they do not already possess one.  

The successful applicant must demonstrate an ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Applicant must present themselves in a professional business like manor when interacting with contractors, clients, and the public.  

The successful applicant must have a valid divers license, and be able to provide their own transportation (preferably a 4x4 pickup truck) to project sites in return for mileage reimbursement at the current federal rate.

Compensation

Salary: $14-18/hr

Salary and benefits are dependent upon education and experience.
