The major duties of the Forestry Supervisor - Permitting will include:

  • Managing and completing all activities associated with cutting permit and road permit acquisitions.
  • Supervision of layout and cruising, completion of site plans, appraisals, engineered cost estimates, preparation of information for electronic submissions and completing electronic submissions.
  • Conducting field and office activities in a safe and productive manner.
  • Ensuring that activities are conducted in compliance with operational plans, company policy and legal requirements.
  • Playing a key role in ensuring that certification and sustainable forest management goals are met.
  • Meeting goals with respect to delivery of timber that meets a profile and cost targets.
  • Ensuring contractors comply with applicable internal and external health and safety requirements, including SAFE company certification.
  • Implementing efficiencies and cost savings through the Canfor Performance Management processes and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Providing and supporting a positive atmosphere for personal, professional and team development.
Required Skills

The Forestry Supervisor is expected at all times to exhibit a level of professionalism that positively represents the company and to demonstrate a strong safety work ethic.

Specific qualifications include:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as an RPF or RFT with the Association of BC Forest Professionals.
  • Associated university degree or technical diploma with a minimum of 3 years of related forestry experience.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and project management skills, with the ability to work within a team environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable BC forestry and related legislation and policies.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and related software to forestry applications.
