Reporting to the Senior Operations Supervisor, the Forestry Supervisor - Operations is responsible primarily for planning and supervising harvesting, road construction and hauling operations. This is a fulltime position as a member of the Forest Management Group, West Operations.

Major Duties:

  • Supervising harvesting and hauling operations on Canfor tenures, maintaining focus on safety, quality and cost
  • Supervising the construction, maintenance and deactivation of operational and block roads
  • Participating in the development of annual business plans, and monitoring the achievement of business plan targets
  • Ensuring that contractors comply with applicable internal policy / processes, and with forestry legislation, Canfor's Forest Management System, and Occupational health and safety legislation.
  • Developing and implementing business improvements, cost efficiencies and innovative practices
Required Skills
  • Minimum 3 years of related forestry experience
  • Associated university or technical diploma
  • Current registration, or eligibility to register within two years, as an RPF or RPFT
  • Excellent leadership, communication, project management skills, with the ability to work within a team environment
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable legislation and policy
  • Interest and ability to take on various roles within the Forest Management Group
  • Excellent computer skills, and related software knowledge including foresty applications
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence, applicants are asked to submit a current driver's abstract with their resume.

Preference may be given to those with extensive experience with:

  • Contract Supervision
  • Harvest operations and Road Construction
  • Planning, Permitting and Fieldwork background
