FORESTRY REGION SUPERVISOR (AL OR WESTERN FL PANHANDLE)

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Forestry or a minimum of 10-15 years in related industry required
  • 10+/- years of management experience in Forestry related field (manufacture, sale or delivery of timber products)
  • 5+/- years of supervisory experience, leading a team to deliver tactical and strategic objectives
  • Technical field experience required- knowledge of forest harvest equipment, tree species identification, forest management protocols and methods, GPS and topographical map reading
  • Certified Forester preferred: understanding of best forestry management practices, forest conservation, regulatory requirements and sustainability

  • Able to effectively manage varying agendas to meet project milestones / deadlines and overall business objectives
  • Strong communicator (verbal and written). Proficient with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • 20% overnight travel required within the region with some daily/overnight stays
  • The expectation is that the Regional Supervisor will still travel within their region 70-75% of the time, but these should be mostly day trips with only 1-2 overnights each month.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage the Forestry Team to achieve stated business objectives for wood quality, quantity and mix.
  2. Current team comprised of 7 in a 3 state area in the Southeast: FL, AL, MS
  3. Prepare and execute regional supply plans and budgets
  4. Drive performance and productivity for individual Foresters and by Geographic region vs budget.
  5. Track individual and group performance of the group relative to plan
  6. Provide accurate and timely monthly / annual forecasting and reporting
  7. Create annual budget, report monthly status
  8. Ensure Safety compliance of the group
  9. Cultivate selling skill development
  10. Execute tactical wood sourcing strategy:
    • Manage contracts with landowners, harvesters and haulers
    • Secure new contracts with large landowners (Federal, State, Company)
    • Deploy new technology for harvest equipment to increase yield per acre
  11. Lead team through organizational transition and implement / advocate new systems and processes to transition to data-driven large tract focus
  12. Implement new CRM tool to create data base for contracts, historical leases and yields
  13. Implement new pay structure for Foresters to align with delivered product cost
  14. Coordinate marketing efforts at state Forestry trade shows
  15. Represent company in local organizations and forestry groups including state Forestry Associations

Other Requirements:

  • Regional supervisors should be centrally located.  Western regional supervisor located in east GA and Western regional supervisor located in AL or Western FL panhandle.
  • Relocation assistance will be provided.
  • Company vehicle will be provided.
  • Valid driver’s license required with clean driving record.

Compensation

Competitive salary with a 10% bonus, plus company car.
