Ash Creek Forest Management, LLC is seeking FORESTRY / RESTORATION CREW MEMBERS with skills and experience to assist Ash Creek Forest Management, LLC with plant installation, maintenance, management and monitoring of ecological restoration projects in the greater Portland Metro area.

Job Title:                    HABITAT RESTORATION CREW MEMBER

Status:                 Full-time dependent upon completion of a 2-month probationary period

Location:              Tigard, Oregon and locations throughout the greater Portland Metro Area

Transportation:    Provide own transportation to work sites, Tigard office or other planned locations

Job Description:

  • Control noxious weeds through careful, precise application of herbicides using backpack sprayers
  • Plant bare-root trees and shrubs
  • Install container plants, plugs and bulbs
  • Prepare and install native plant pole cuttings
  • Maintain native tree and shrub plantings using handtools and power tools
  • Perform site preparation using chainsaws
  • Repair, clean and maintain all hand and power tools in operating condition
  • Operate company tractors, ATVs and trucks
  • Collect native plant seed
  • Other duties as requested

Experience/Qualifications (Required):

  • Ability, motivation and endurance for eight to ten hours of productive manual labor
  • Ability to work outdoors across uneven terrain during inclement weather
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Experience using hand and power tools (Chainsaw, shovel, hoedad, etc.)
  • Ability to safely lift 60 lbs.
  • Valid drivers license

Experience/Qualifications (Desired):

  • Chemical Applicator’s License (OR) and skill with herbicide application methods
  • Ability to navigate the urban and rural Portland metro area
  • Knowledge of Oregon native plants and habitats
  • Math skills and organizational ability
  • Spanish/English language skills
  • First AID/CPR certification
  • Horticultural skills

Compensation

Wage: $14-15 /hour
