Forester (Forester)

Primary responsibilities will include field work associated with timber sales, forestry herbicide and tree planting programs, mapping, burning, and wildlife management for existing client base as well as new work development.

Position requires a BS (or higher) in Forestry. Preference will be given to experienced applicants but capable new graduates are encouraged to apply. The ideal applicant will have a working knowledge of all forestry principles with a strong applied understanding of pine silviculture, GIS, forest products and economics. Candidates should be confident and possess good computing and communication skills.

The position requires the successful applicant to relocate to within 45 minutes drive of South Hill, VA. South Hill is a growing town in Southside VA. It offers all the amenities of a larger city with the small town atmosphere (pop. Ca. 6,000). It is located only miles away from 20,000 ac Lake Gaston and 50,000 ac Buggs Island Lake which offer the entire range of recreational watersport opportunities. South Hill is approx. 1 hour drive by interstate to both Richmond, VA and Raleigh, NC.
