Eastern Forest Consultants LLC, a North Carolina-based company, is seeking applicants to fill an entry to mid-level forester position at their Blacksburg, Virginia location.
This is a labor-intensive field position, and the successful applicant should expect to spend >90% of their time working outdoors. Typical duties include conducting timber inventories, preparing timber sales, planting trees/running planting crews, applying herbicides, and operating a chainsaw. The position may include a heavy amount of out-of-town travel (approximately 50%) for which employee will be compensated.
Job Qualifications:
Applicant should be able to identify eastern tree species and have a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Forestry (Bachelor’s Degree is preferred). Previous work experience in the forestry profession (especially in regards to conducting timber inventories) is preferred but not required. The successful applicant must demonstrate an ability to work independently.
Miscellaneous:
The successful applicant must be able to provide their own transportation (4-wheel drive) to project sites in return for mileage reimbursement.
Compensation
Starting salary is dependent upon education and experience/qualifications but is expected to be in the $28,000 to $33,000 per year range.
