NovaFor Forest Services Ltd. is a full-service forest management consulting company. We provide a full range of forestry services and management expertise to TFL holders, First Nation Forestry Companies, Private Land & Woodlot owners and other consulting companies. We specialize in Forest Planning and Management, Silviculture and Pre/Post Harvest Activities.

We are currently seeking to fill a position of Forester and /or Forest Technician within our company to work in the mid Vancouver Island area. This position offers a wide range of working environments allowing employees to work in all aspects of forest management from the initial planning phases, through to contract supervision of logging and forestry crews and contract administration custom tailored to meet the needs of our clients.

Forester: 

• Primary responsibilities will include various forest licence Development, Road Permit & Cutting Permit review and submission, Site Plan documentation and review. INAC applications, small scale salvage applications, various licence development and consultation. Free Use Permit, Licence of Occupation, Special Use Permits and Foreshore applications will also be required from time to time. 

• Other duties include field and office review of cutblock development and review of final cutblock layout, cutting permit and road permit preparation, mapping, and various pre-and post harvest assessments. 

• Extensive and varied experience in the field of silviculture and/or engineering with direct involvement in forest engineering and/or silviculture activities is preferred. 

• Proficiency in computer use with familiarity with Microsoft programs is essential and a working knowledge of GPS software, ArcMap, GENUS, and other BC Government applications ie. ECAS, Results etc are preferred. 

• Registration with the ABCFP as a Professional Forester or Forester in Training. 

• Option to set up and work from home based office with flexible working hours can be arranged.

 Forest Technician: 

• The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of project completion including: field reconnaissance, crew supervision, safety and quality control, coordination of crew and equipment and production. 

• Working with First Nations, developing FNWL, management plans, woodlots, FSPs, LOCs, FUPs, Referrals, and developing opportunities for FN communities 

• Liaison between government, Recreation and Stewardship groups 

• Road & Cutting Permit review and submission 

• Silviculture surveys and supervision of forestry crews 

• Overseeing all silviculture liabilities and database maintenance for multiple licencees including RESULTS updating 

• Proficiency in computers with a working knowledge of Roadeng, Arcmap, Cengea, LIDAR, and GPS software is preferred
