The BC Timber Sales Forest Technologist Entry Level Program (FTELP) in Mackenzie is looking for individuals wanting to grow their strong educational foundation with hands-on experience in all areas of forest technology, including silviculture, harvesting and forest engineering. As an FTELP participant, you will receive focused coaching from forestry experts, intensive training and development, and support in achieving your RFT designation. In this multifaceted role, you will become actively engaged in field activities, work towards making independent decisions and play important roles in the community. An excellent verbal and written communicator, you will learn to act as a liaison between stakeholders, participate on a variety of committees, and prepare and present technical material.


Qualifications for this role include:

·         Be recently graduated (by June 1st, 2019) from an ABCFP accredited Forest Technology diploma program.

·         Be eligible for immediate enrolment as an ABCFP Trainee Forest Technologist. Applicants who do not meet the professional requirement may be considered at a lower level. Applicants must contact ABCFP to confirm eligibility.

·         Be eligible to work in Canada permanently.

·         Have a valid Class 5 driver’s licence (abstract required).

·         Preference will be given to applicants who are current graduates (within 2 years) of ABCFP accredited Forest Technology diploma program.

 

This job posting is for the BC Timber Sales Forest Technologist Entry Level Program (FTELP) in Mackenzie, BC. The FTELP involves 2 years of training, development and hands-on experience, and an additional 2 years of related work in Mackenzie, Fort St. James or Fort St John. This is a permanent opportunity. FTELP participants will be hired as Scientific Technical Officers 18 (STO18s) and under-implemented as STO15 ($47,647.15 - $54,003.55) until they earn their full Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) or equivalent designation. Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.

 

Compensation

Salary:
STO15- TFT: $47,647.15 - $54,003.55 annually (plus $38.87 Bi-weekly Isolation Allowance) STO18-RFT: $51,845.18 - $58,873.38 annually (plus $38.87 Bi-weekly Isolation Allowance)
