Forest Technician – Required Immediately

Deep Valley Forestry Ltd. is accepting resumes for the position of forest technician. We are based out of Grande Prairie, Alberta. Established in 2007, Deep Valley Forestry Ltd projects include permanent sample plot and postharvest regeneration plot re-measurements, pre-harvest assessments, mountain pine beetle surveys/quality inspections, long-term research project measurements and block layout.

We are looking for an individual to assist with data collection for our annual growth and yield contracts for the 2017 season.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A willingness to work in adverse weather conditions and a physically demanding environment
• Post-secondary education in forestry technology and/or related area
• Basic forestry skills – compassing, tree identification, basic insect and disease identification, forest mensuration
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license
• Standard First Aid
• ATV experience an asset
• Mountain pine beetle survey experience

Due to the location of the work, field camping will be required (tenting) - shifts of 4 or 5 days only.

Candidate must adhere to company health and safety program

Due to nature of work, candidate must be quality driven

Wages based on 10 hour work days

Minimum 6 month term of employment (May - end of October) with possibility of extension. 

Compensation

Salary will commensurate with experience.
