Job Description:

   KEY FUNCTION OF POSITION:
   • Manage and supervise silviculture and timber harvesting activities in accordance with Campbell Global’ s budgetary, regulatory, and environmental guidelines.
   • Assist Area Manager on special projects as requested.
   • Provide forest management expertise in support of annual property-specific goals and objectives.
   
   SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
   ➢ Supervise and coordinate all timber harvesting and silvicultural activities on the Saratoga Tree Farm.
   ➢ Achieve annual harvest targets and ensure customer deliveries are made consistently with direction from the Area Manager.
   ➢ Track cost and production data needed for budget and forecasting purposes.
   ➢ Provide support to Area Manager on special projects as directed.
   ➢ Identify, plan, execute, and manage projects in the following areas: Harvesting, long term plans and budgeting.
   ➢ Implement policies, procedures, and guidelines regarding all forestry activities to ensure the highest quality while managing cost effectiveness.
   ➢ Administer forestry contractor process including initiation, bid and prospectus, contract preparation, payment schedule, etc.
   ➢ Assist in timber harvest layout, permits, and notices of operation with regards to silviculture and stewardship principles.
   ➢ Maintain knowledge and understanding of local markets and mill utilization standards.
   ➢ Address land use issues and make agreements as needed.
   ➢ Maintain knowledge of current wildlife and environmental issues, addressing any concerns that may arise.
   ➢ Maintain understanding of current industry standards; ensure full and appropriate compliance with local SFI program and FSC program.
   ➢ Actively participate in the implementation and utilization of GIS.
   ➢ Actively participate in and implement CG safety training and policies.
   ➢ Ensure that environmental or financial risk management reporting is conducted in a timely and professional manner to Area Manager and, if appropriate, local Safety Coordinator.
   ➢ Respond to internal and external information requests in conjunction with management and team members.
   ➢ Actively participate within the organization to ensure all timberland management investment services meet or exceed client commitments.
   ➢ Represent Campbell Global at all levels maintaining positive public relations.
   ➢ Other duties as assigned.
   ➢ This position is considered exempt based on job responsibilities.

Qualifications:

   QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION:
   ➢ B.S. Degree in Forestry, or closely related field; and
   ➢ Two years previous work experience in forest management
   
   EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED/PREFERRED:
   ➢ Must have planning, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
   ➢ Must have local wood market knowledge and experience working with logging contractors.
   ➢ Demonstrated knowledge of applicable state and federal forestry laws.
   ➢ Must have:
   o Good research and analytical skills.
   o Good communication skills – both oral and written.
   o Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
   o Basic computer skills.
   o Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
   ➢ Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work in steep, brushy terrain for long periods of time.
