Forest Operations Superintendent (Management & Executives)

Full Time

Taylor I Ryan Executive Search Partners

  British Columbia, British Columbia, Canada

A coastal forestry business has retained Taylor Ryan to find an Operations Superintendent for their growing operations in British Columbia. The position provides a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic forestry professional to take a broader business focus and to manage some of the procurement and marketing for the team.

Targeting a cut of 300,000 – 400,000m3 the Operations Superintendent plays a critical role in fibre supply to the mill, ensuring the volume and quality are in line with the expectations of the production team. Outside of the operations on the cut, the Operations Superintendent will liaise with external stakeholders to procure and manage the supply of external logs as required by the mill. The Operations Superintendent will also manage external contractors and ensure that they are delivering value to the business through lowering costs and increasing productivity. The position will also contribute to the strategic planning for the business through the development of the annual operating plans and budgets for the company.

This dynamic position will require a passionate forestry professional who has some experience supervising harvesting operations or managing contractors and who is keen to expand their career. You will have the opportunity to build on your forestry experience and engage with local stakeholders and make a real contribution to business productivity. While having the ability to register, or being registered as an RPF is certainly an advantage, it is not a prerequisite for this position. Ideally you will have at least two years of experience where you have taken on harvesting responsibilities.

This is a position that may help define your career and give you the opportunity to gain valuable coastal forestry experience in British Columbia.
