Job Description:
Koppers Wood Products Pty Ltd – Takura, Queensland

Koppers is the largest producer of treated hardwood poles and piles in Australia with pole production facilities in four States. All KWP sites are ISO-9001, ISO-14001 and AS-4707 certified.

The position contributes to a hardwood pole procurement team providing forest management and marketing services to timber owners and harvest contractors in South-East Queensland and Northern NSW and has a support function in Tasmania and WA.

The job involves:

• Sourcing hardwood poles, piles and other products
• Harvest planning to meet environmental, regulatory and silvicultural targets and deliver the best timber value outcomes for clients and Koppers
• Considerable travel and work in remote areas on a weekly basis

Key responsibilities include:

• Procurement of poles to Koppers Takura (Hervey Bay) Pole Plant
• Securing additional timber volume in line with customer demand; and
• Safety, health and environmental management of suppliers

Qualifications 
Essential:

• A tertiary qualification and 5 years relevant harvest operations experience
• Capacity to advise clients about harvesting operations, compliance and timber value
• Commitment to Koppers SHEMS policies and procedures
• Current Drivers License

Preferred:

• Ability to work in isolation and as part of a dynamic procurement team
• High level interpersonal skills and a capacity to manage people
• Knowledge of Queensland hardwood forests and timber characteristics
• Advanced computer skills in spreadsheets, harvest planning and mapping
