Forest Manager (Forester)

Larson & McGowin, LLC (L&M) is seeking a Forest Manager to oversee the management of client properties located in south Arkansas. Responsibilities will include client and vendor communication, budgeting, reporting, timber sale negotiation and administration, development of stand-level silvicultural prescriptions, financial analysis, contracting of forestry-related services, and supervision of 1 to 3 employees.

Candidate will occasionally participate in consulting projects outside of the local area. Overnight travel will be required approximately 10% of the time. All necessary travel costs will be reimbursed.

Qualifications and Abilities:

o Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry

o Must be a Registered Forester in Arkansas or meet the necessary requirements to obtain this designation within 6 months of date of hire

o 5+ years’ working forestry experience

o Knowledge and experience with both pine and hardwood silviculture

o Knowledge and experience with the sale of timber

o Field proficiency with various forest inventory/mensuration techniques and methodologies

o Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite

o Strong written and verbal communication skills

o Time management skills – coordination of multiple concurrent projects

o Ability to work in remote outdoor locations in various weather and forest conditions

o Knowledge and experience with GIS software
