Forest Manager - Alex Fraser Research Forest (Forester)

The Faculty of Forestry at the University of BC is seeking a motivated individual to serve as Manager at our Alex Fraser Research Forest in Williams Lake, BC.  The applicant should be an experienced team leader with business and entrepreneurial skills who enjoys training, mentoring and working with the foresters of tomorrow.  Registration as a Professional Forester in BC is required, as well as a track record of managing crown land tenures in BC, leading a diverse team of natural resource professionals, and developing innovative forestry practices.  Reporting to the Director of UBC’s Research Forests, you will be responsible for all aspects of managing this unique forest operation.

The UBC Alex Fraser Research Forest is an area-based tenure that covers 9800 hectares of crown land in two blocks.  The Research Forest operates as a self-funded business that delivers a wide range of research, education, and forest management opportunities to not only the University, but also the local communities that surround it.  The City of Williams Lake is a modern vibrant community serving a regional population of 30,000 and offers a full range of social, economic and recreational opportunities.
