Optimum Resource Management Ltd. is company based out of McBride, British Columbia, providing consulting services to the forest industry, community forests, mining industry, independent power producers, and private land holders. Our primary focus is on field engineering services and includes full multiphase operations, harvest supervision, road construction supervision. Our strengths include knowledge of harvesting and road construction in steep mountainous terrain, cable harvesting systems, and working in and around unstable terrain.

Optimum Resource Management Ltd. is currently recruiting people to fill up to 4 field positions for multiphase timber development including timber reconnaissance, cruising, road and cut-block layout, riparian, traversing and ecological assessments. These positions are open to junior and experienced individuals with a preference to those that have a degree or diploma in Forestry or Natural Resource Management with a background in forest operations and timber cruising.

Our operations tend to extend along the Rocky Mountains of BC from Kinbasket Lake near Valemount, to MacKenzie. The positions include an industry competitive remuneration package, and an excellent career growth opportunity. Majority of the work will be based out of the communities of McBride and Prince George with the possibility of camping in remote areas.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Registered professional foresters, registered professional technologists, special permit holders.
  • Registration or ability to register with the ABCFP. Those individuals working towards or have a degree or diploma in natural resources are preferred candidates.
  • Forest engineering, timber cruising experience.
  • Harvesting/construction operations.
  • General knowledge and understanding of current forest legislation.
  • 3+ years work experience
  • Valid Drivers license with a clean abstract.

  • Good problem solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing conditions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good physical and mental stamina for work in the steep mountainous terrain.
  • Willingness to work in all types of weather conditions and hike through dense forests off of beaten paths.
