We are seeking a Forest Analyst to be part of our US based team. With direct reporting to Associate Director Analytics & Planning, New Forests US, you will be responsible for undertaking analytical tasks for forest carbon feasibility assessments, development & maintenance as well as timberland acquisition. There will be some project management in this role and you will be given exposure to a number of areas across the US business.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Forest carbon project feasibility assessments including inventory data processing, credit yield calculations, communicating with landowner and/or their forester;
  • Forest carbon project development for the Forest Carbon Partners (FCP) fund and timberland investment funds. This involves: oversight of inventory contractors & consultant analysis; project design and management; quality control checks; communication with all stakeholders;
  • Timberland acquisition analyses, at various stages and levels of complexity;
  • Support of timberland management operations through analysis or oversight of consultant work.

Experience & skills required:

  • Experience in design, implementation and analysis of forest inventories
  • Bachelor Science (Forestry) or equivalent
  • Knowledge of and exposure to with semi-natural forest and plantation management
  • Highly motivated to achieve sustainable land management investments
  • Experience with forest carbon projects and certification, desirable
  • Excellent computer skills including database, spreadsheet, FVS/growth models, scripting and programming
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good verbal and written communication skills & ability to communicate effectively with different levels of professionals
  •  An ability to work independently & take ownership of the role
  • A positive can do attitude
  • Diplomacy & capable of maintaining composure under pressure 
  • Ability to build strong relationships and work within a team environment
  • Flexibility towards extra hours, if required to meet deadlines
  • Availability to travel, as needed
