Timber Products Inspection, Inc. (TP) is an independent inspection, testing and consulting company with expertise in all phases of the wood products industry. TP provides quality auditing services in the areas of saw milling, drying, component fabrication as well as value added processes such as pressure treating and gluing.   

TP is currently looking for the right candidate to fill the position of Field Inspector in the Houston, TX area.  This position will service existing clients as well as prospect new sales.

Job Title: Field Inspector in the Houston, TX area

Job Summary: 

This position will work directly under the guidance and direction of a Field Supervisor. The Field Inspector will be responsible for performing product audits, training production staff, maintaining proper documentation procedures, soliciting new business and adhering to company policies.  This position will operate out of a home office.  Some overnight travel is required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Performs products audits: Sampling or auditing of products to verify compliance to applicable standards. Monitors plant records for accuracy and completeness.
  2.  Trains productions staff: Teaches Lumber Graders, Treaters and QC Staff in applicable standards. Monitors plant staff for execution of standards.
  3. Maintains proper documentation procedures: Prepares oral and written reports on plant audits and other procedures.
  4. Solicits new business.
  5. Adheres to company policies
  6.  Performs other duties as required.

Job Qualifications / Requirements:

  •   Some college; a degree in forestry/forest products is preferred, but not necessary.
  •   Ability to express ideas clearly in both oral and written communications.
  •   Ability to plan and organize work itineraries.
  •   Ability to work independently.
  •   Overnight travel required.
  •   Attention to details required.
  •   Must be customer service oriented.

Working Conditions:

Standing, stooping, walking, balancing and reaching in a production environment, possibly in inclement weather. 

Additional Info:

M-F full time.  Drug screen and background check required.  Must have valid driver's license.
