Field Forester Position

Crane Mills is a family owned company that has been in business since 1931.  We own and manage 92,000 acres of mixed conifer timberland primarily in Tehama, Shasta, and Trinity counties.  Our office is in Corning, CA and our shops and log yard are in Paskenta, CA.  We hire contractors and operate our own small cat logging side.  We run 6 log trucks and a small road crew. 

Field Forester 

Qualifications:   

  • Minimum of a BS degree in Forestry/Natural Resource Management
  • California RPF license and 5 years of field experience are preferred but not required
  • California driver’s license
  • Self-motivated, able to work alone or with others in remote settings, willing to learn 

Job Duties:         

  • THP preparation and layout
  • Timber marking and cruising
  • Contract supervision (logging, roads, reforestation, site preparation)
  • Wildlife and botanical surveys

Compensation

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
