Our Abbotsford office is looking for a motivated individual to assist with environmental monitoring, impact assessments, habitat impact mitigation, creek relocation design and construction, compensation plans, and fishery, wildlife and vegetation surveys.  The position reports to the Senior Project Manager.

Qualifications: 

• Degree or diploma(s) in Biological, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or Fisheries sciences
• Knowledge of the Integrated Pest Management Regulations, BC Weed Control Regulation, and Invasive Plant Regulation
• Experience in environmental monitoring of construction projects, and working knowledge of erosion and sediment control practices
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills to coordinate completion of multiple project deliverables
• Effective technical report writing capability
• Knowledge of Fraser Valley geography, ecology, fish life history and habitat requirements
• Valid class 5 BC driver’s license and ability to supply drivers abstract

Responsibilities:

• Identification of invasive/noxious vegetation species
• Coordinate pesticide application based on knowledge of chemical and manual treatment techniques used for invasive species
• Coordinate vegetation management activities in riparian areas
• Work remotely, travelling between various locations
• Complete wildlife, vegetation and  fish habitat assessments,  and Riparian Areas Regulation assessments
• Perform, fish sampling/salvages, wildlife salvages, and invasive/noxious weed treatment
• Assist with developing vegetation management programs
• Prepare technical fish and vegetation reports
• Develop positive client relationships

Working Conditions:

• Minimum 40 hour work week, Monday to Friday
• Physically demanding work, with exposure to a variety of weather conditions
• Periodic weekend and evening work will be required
• Reliable personal vehicle required
• Occasional out of town will be required – travel/mileage reimbursement
• Field work 60%, office 40% - subject to change based on project workload
• Required to wear personal protective equipment (respirator, hard hat, steel-toed boots, etc.)
• In-house training is provided

Compensation

Salary: $44,000.00/Annually
