Engineering Manager - Lumber (Engineering)

Pan Pac Forest Products Limited is a fully integrated forestry company that has been growing, processing and delivering quality Radiata products to their domestic and international markets for over 40 years.The Company, which operates under 3 divisions, Forestry, Lumber and Pulp, has its corporate office and primary processing plant located at Whirinaki in the Hawkes Bay and a modern sawmill plant in Otago. Continuous, advancing technology has enabled Pan Pac to be more efficient across the entire supply chain and underpinned its highly significant growth over recent years. Exciting plans are in place to ensure ongoing, future growth.

The appointment of an experienced, large-plant Engineering Manager is critical to these plans. You will report directly to the General Manager – Lumber and lead an engineering team of over 40 staff plus contractors. The primary responsibility in this role is ensuring plant performance and reliability through utilising best practice maintenance initiatives and building an effective, committed engineering team. The availability of the plant for 20 hours a day, 6 days a week production is a key focus. You will lead and manage current maintenance and capital investment in the Plant. Other responsibilities include leadership of EH&S, industrial relations, maintenance planning, budgeting and administration.

To succeed in this position you will be a qualified engineer with strong technical competence and significant engineering management experience gained in a large manufacturing or similar environment. You will have a current knowledge of modern reliability engineering and the proven ability to apply these practices in a large operational plant. You will have proven contractor and contracts management skills together with strong practical financial and budgeting ability. You will have effective communication skills and superior interpersonal skills. The ability to establish and maintain strong effective relationship skills with people at all levels is essential.
