Our client, a successful pulp mill in New Brunswick is currently recruiting an Electrical Engineer to join their Maintenance Department.  

Reporting to the Electrical Superintendent the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the lifecycle planning, maintenance and servicing all power systems for the entire facility, PLC Systems and any other related systems on the mill site.

As well as supporting engineering requirements as needed by E&I tradespersons, planners and supervisors. The candidate will ensure engineering services comply with Corporate Policies, Guidelines and applicable Legislation.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare preliminary feasibility studies and capital spending requests (CPA) in accordance with the mill’s CPA Procedures.
  • Assist the E&I department and production departments with engineering support with regards to field E&I equipment.
  • Expertise in high, medium, and low voltage distribution.
  • Provide high quality and timely technical assistance for the commissioning and start up of new facilities and initiate timely and proper corrective action as required to meet the project objectives.
  • Develop and conduct a preventative maintenance and life cycle plan with regards to the PLC system.
  • Develop lifecycle plans for all electrical process field equipment.
  • Project management as required.
  • Design, install and maintain AC and DC drives and systems.
  • Implementation and management of Arc Flash safety program.
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented, and be flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fast paced multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Recommends improvements to procedure, standards and practices, as part of our continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Holds a Professional Engineering designation.
  • 8+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Previous experience in a pulp mill would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization and leadership skills are essential.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
