A Major international manufacturer of engineered wood products has a career opportunity for an Electrical Engineer at their British Columbia—Central Interior operation.
 
The Electrical Engineer is a leadership position responsible for managing projects, developing reliability initiatives, managing labour requirements, and maintenance of all mill equipment and machinery. This position leads maintenance teams with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and efficiency. The Electrical Engineer relies on leadership abilities in conjunction with a continuous improvement and proactive mindset in order to support and promote excellence as established in the company vision, mission, and values. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing a variety of projects through the mill site and working on the Power Smart program.
  • Problem solving, root cause analysis, developing reliability processes.
  • Planning work priorities for tradesmen in conjunction with production teams.
  • Facilitating, developing, and implementing continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures by educating, training, monitoring, and proactively coaching team members.
  • Identifying hazards, conducting safety inspections, and resolving individual and team issues.
  • Collaborating with operational personnel is an important consideration of this position. 

Candidates will be registered or eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of  BC, along with a few years in a supervisory position. Experience in wood products manufacturing (pulp, sawmill, panel, or other) would be a significant asset.
 
Strong problem solving skills, a creative approach to new ideas, strong mechanical aptitude, a hands-on approach, a proven safe track record, predictive maintenance training, knowledge of PLCs, Transformers, automation, and mechanical systems are assets. Receptive to feedback, willingness to learn, and desire to develop people with visionary leadership are paramount.
