Position has direct responsibility for pulpwood, chip and biomass fuel procurement and chip processing for the Catalyst Rumford Division and managerial oversight for the pulpwood supply for the Catalyst Biron, Wisconsin Division. Directs a professional staff to achieve cost, volume and production targets meeting pulpwood and chip quality standards for the Rumford mill. Manages US certification program to ensure certification to FSC, SFI and PEFC Chain of Custody and SFI Fiber Sourcing standards. Develops and implements strategic initiatives for US fiber supply.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Rumford Division

• Develop, implement and track annual wood supply plan and strategy
• Develop/direct pulpwood and chip pricing
• Contract signatory
• Administer Fiber Supply Agreement and Real Estate Rights Agreement
• Track inventory and develop/direct reactionary strategy
• Ensure compliance with FSC/SFI/PEFC standards and certification
• Weekly, monthly, annual reporting, internally and externally
• Wood security contact

Biron Division

• Develop, implement and track annual wood supply plan and strategy; collaborative with Verso Lake States Fiber Supply
• Administer Verso Fiber Supply Agreement (FSA)
• Track inventory and coordinate necessary strategy with Verso and Biron mill management
• Coordinate annual Verso FSA compliance audit

US Fiber Supply

• Maintain US certification credit account (both Biron and Rumford)
• Allocate certification credit availability with sales organization
• Coordinate transfer of credits between Biron/Rumford/BC mills
• Respond/complete customer certification enquiries and surveys
• Maintain FSC/SFI/PEFC Chain of Custody certification and certification to SFI Fiber Sourcing Standard

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in natural resources (Forestry, Forest Management, Forest Operations, etc), engineering or paper science.
• Experience in wood procurement, wood processing, etc. preferred.
• Management experience in progressively senior roles within pulp and paper industry
• Maine Scalers License, or ability to obtain.
• Competency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
