Job Description: 
The successful applicant will be the director of landowner outreach, forestry education and programs for the South Carolina Forestry Association and the South Carolina Forestry Foundation. Responsible for landowner outreach and membership development, serving  as the coordinator for the Sustainable Forestry Initiative State Implementation Committee, managing the SC Forestry Foundation’s  Teachers’ Tour, Project Learning Tree, Wood Magic Forest Fair, and Log-A-Load programs; serves as the SC Forestry Association’s liaison with County Forestry and Landowners Associations, Association of Consulting Foresters,  Society of American Foresters, State Forestry Commission, and educational institutions; staff SC Forestry Association committees as assigned, assist with annual meeting and other duties as assigned by the President and CEO.  
Education Requirements: 
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Forestry or Forestry related field. 
Work experience: 
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the practice of forestry or employment in the forest industry; prior work with landowners and knowledge of forest management practices and certification along with experience in teaching, training, or educational programs related to forestry are preferred. 
Skills: 
Must be able to recruit new members to join the South Carolina Forestry Association and conduct public educational programs on forestry, answer questions relating to the practice of forestry, establish short and long term plans for programs, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be a self-starter as demonstrated by prior experience and/or involvement in forestry.

Compensation

Salary is negotiable based upon experience and qualifications. Benefits include a SIMPLE IRA retirement plan and an individual health insurance policy is negotiable.
