Director of Forestry and Sustainability

Salary up to $ 108,150.06 annually

Although Victoria is preferred, this position could be from various locations throughout BC.

  
BC Timber Sales is a semi-autonomous program within the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations with financial and operational independence. BC Timber Sales has an integral role in supporting the Forest Sector Strategy in the BC Jobs Plan. It also supports the Ministry’s Four Key Pillars, its Goal of “Productive, thriving natural resource sector and resilient communities”, and its Objective of “Economic benefits of natural resource development are optimized.”

The Director, Forestry and Sustainability reports to the Executive Director, BC Timber Sales and functions as the program’s Chief Forester.  The position is responsible for sustainable forest management, policy and legislation, partnerships, seedling management, and change management.  The position champions program innovation consistent with the programs vision and mission, and works collaboratively with the leadership team in decision making and to support the achievement of operational objectives.

To be considered for this position your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have the following:

  • Degree in Resource Management or related studies.

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in resource management in a senior management capacity including business and organizational planning.

  • Experience leading and coaching diverse teams and managing geographically dispersed multi-disciplinary staff.
  • Experience managing politically sensitive and provincially significant issues, developing policy, procedures and corporate practices.
  • Experience establishing and reconciling program and project objectives, priorities and budgets.
  • Experience establishing collaborative relationships with senior leaders and leading organizational change associated with implementation.

  • Experience building and maintaining relationships, liaising with internal and external stakeholders and negotiating/mediating solutions in natural resource management or infrastructure development.
