This is technical supervisory work in the Urban Forestry field.
Employees in this class, under general supervision, lead and direct others in, and perform, a variety of tree care activities.
Crew Chief 2 is distinguished from Tree Trimmer and Tree Trimmer, Senior by the former's responsibility to lead the work of others, and the responsibility for a crew and public safety.
The Crew Chief 2 carries out field set-up and work assignments independently after a supervisor sets priorities and assigns personnel and equipment.
Positions in this class perform, and lead the work of others in tree care activities such as pruning and removing rights-of-way, arterial, park, and street trees. Tree care is conducted to provide for public safety, protection of property, and for the health and longevity of County trees.
Employees in this class make decisions concerning appropriate pruning methods, job sequencing, and use of equipment and are responsible for maintaining a safe work area.
Ability to lead the work of others is required.
Employees use judgment in determining appropriate guidelines to apply to various work situations.
Compensation
Salary Range: $15.72/hr - $24.85/hrStarting salary is negotiable depending upon qualifications.
