Profile
Our client is a privately owned log and lumber export company looking to fill a contract Controller role.
This position will report to the local President and CFO in the US Office. You will work closely with the Office Manager and other Managers. You will have full responsibility for the Accounting and Finance for this operation. Initial project will be to relocate the Accounting from the US office to this office. Setting up and implementing procedures and processes for the staff to maintain going forward. |

Responsibilities
Maintain the general and subsidiary financial ledgers including reconciliations of all accounts
Prepare monthly management financial statements
Prepare annual financial statements
Prepare statutory statistical reports as required
Preparation and completion of profit and loss and balance sheet reports within predetermined timeframes
Fulfill statutory reporting of taxes
Proactively encourage and manage the accurate financial reporting
Actively liaise with sales management, ensuring prompt and accurate invoicing
Manage the areas of accounts payable including effective controls in related areas
Manage under and over claims and the related reporting of those areas
Proactively manage collection of all debts in line with the company’s credit plan
Prepare budgets and forecasts in consultation with senior management
Report on budget and variance analysis monthly
Prepare overhead analysis and actively monitor actual overheads and report on variance
Cash flow planning, reporting and Risk Management
Oversee general bank account controls; supervise the reconciliation of all bank accounts
Oversee transfer of funds –LC’s
Manage overseas invoicing and reconciling
Ensure foreign exchange rates are updated and maximized
Coordination of legal and commercial agreements with relevant parties
Assist with the annual insurance tender and renewal process

Qualifications
Designated CPA, CGA, CMA
Previous accounting and finance experience with a particular reference to the export sector
Preference will be given to individuals with forestry and export industry experience
Proven ability in preparing and interpreting financial reports, effective cash flow and risk management
Familiarization with SAGE 100 to enable development of improved reporting systems to deliver effective and timely information to senior management
Experience with Foreign exchange; handling a variety of currencies
Mandarin language skills and asset but not a requirement
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word
