Contract Supervisor Opportunity

Position Title: Contract Harvesting Supervisor

Location: Mackenzie, B.C.

General

This is a contract position available immediately. The successful candidate will work within the harvesting team at Canfor Mackenzie, with responsibilities and duties directed by the Operations Superintendent.

Major Duties

  • Manage activities associated with harvesting, including: supervision of logging, road construction, maintenance and deactivation, bridge construction and potentially logging camp operations.
  •  Report and conduct root cause analysis of safety incidents.
  •  Ensure activities are conducted in compliance with all applicable Occupational Health and Safety Requirements, forestry legislation, Canfor’s Environmental Policy, Forestry Principles, and Forestry Management System.
  • You will be required to work and form positive relationships with suppliers, First Nations, government agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Administrative activities.
  • Manage costs within your specific responsibilities.
  • Participate in other team projects as requested.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in all or most of the Major Duties outlined above in the first bullet.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, project management skills, and an ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficient using a computer, and in particular Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of applicable BC legislation and policies.
  • University Degree or Technical Diploma in Forestry or Natural Resource Management is an asset.
  • Preference may be given to a candidate who is a Registered Professional Forester and/or a member of the ABCFP eligible to write within 2 years.
  • You will be expected to operate within an independent business with all necessary registrations for Worksafe BC, GST, Safe Certification in BCFSC, Gov’t payroll services etc. You will also need to supply a newer model, reliable pick-up with a truck-to-truck radio and all necessary field gear.

Compensation

Remuneration will be based on experience and qualifications, working 40-50 hours per week.
