Job Description:

 In this position, you will direct, manage, supervise, and coordinate the day-to-day activities and long-term goals and objectives of the Forestry Division of the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department. 

   Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform: 

  •    Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the City's Urban Forest Master Plan 
  •    Perform fiscal management tasks, including budget preparation and monitoring and contract services oversight 
  •    Develop long-range urban forestry plans, policies, and objectives 
  •    Oversee, direct, coordinate, train, and evaluate assigned staff 
  •    Develop and present administrative and financial reports 
  •    Oversee the enforcement and compliance with sections of the City Code pertaining to Urban Forest and Tree Service Business Licensing and the Forestry Rules and Regulations as promulgated under City Code 
  •    Coordinate Forestry Division management objectives and activities among city, county, state, federal, and private entities and organizations 
  •    Respond to citizen concerns 
  •    Provide information and public relations programs to the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Advisory Board, senior City management, City Council, public and private entities, and the media 


   We are looking for candidates who have: 

  •    Knowledge of the objectives and principles of forestry 
  •    Knowledge of forest management 
  •    Knowledge of insect and disease control and management methods 
  •    Ability to stay abreast of new trends, innovations, and research 
  •    Excellent oral and written communicate skills 
  •    Strong leadership and effective management skills 
  •    Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite 
Qualifications:

 Successful candidate will have: 

  •    A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in park and forestry management, natural resource conservation, or a related field 
  •    Five years of professional forestry program experience, including two years of administration and supervisory responsibility 
  •    Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license 
  •    Possess, or obtain within twelve months of hire, certification as an ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certified Arborist 


   Ideal candidates will also have: 

  •    Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in arboriculture, forestry management, natural resources, or a related field 
  •    Certified by the International Society of Arboriculture and/or Certified Forester by the Society of American Foresters 

Compensation

$5,955.00 - $8,343.00 Monthly
