The Private Forest Landowners Association (PFLA) is a registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to the responsible and sustainable stewardship of the private forest lands across British Columbia. Established in 1995, the PFLA represents members ranging from small, family-owned properties to large-scale private forestry operations. The PFLA works on their behalf to balance economic realities, community interests, and environmental values. The PFLA focuses on advocacy on behalf of its members to ensure public policy processes are fair, environmentally sound, fiscally responsible, and respectful of property rights.

The Private Forest Landowners Association requires an experienced executive to lead the organization as Chief Executive Officer and to execute the organization’s mandate on behalf of its members.

The successful candidate will report to, and collaborate with, a highly motivated and experienced Board of Directors comprised of senior leaders elected by the membership.

The Chief Executive Officer is the primary representative of the PFLA to stakeholders and to the public, and as such he/she will interact closely with members, industry leaders, and government representatives at the regional, provincial, and federal levels. The Chief Executive Officer is a passionate advocate for the forestry industry as a whole and specifically for private landowners.

The successful Chief Executive Officer will join the Private Forest Landowners Association with expertise in forestry and or not-for-profit management, preferably with experience managing diverse stakeholders including a large and geographically diverse membership, media, government officials, and industry representatives. The successful candidate will have completed his/her undergraduate degree in forestry, business management, communication, or political science. Candidates with a combination of work experience and professional certifications will be equally considered. All academic degrees and professional qualifications are subject to verification by an independent third-party service provider.

Compensation

The PFLA offers a competitive compensation package is provided, including an annual incentive program and comprehensive benefits. The PFLA will consider candidates on a contract basis, depending on circumstances. The final compensation profile is commensurate upon the qualifications of the successful candidate.
