Job Description

The candidate in the Assistant Mill Manager role will have the following key responsibilities:

- Assist the Mill Manager in sawmill in the areas of safety, production, maintenance, and quality
- Strive to continuously improve all areas of mill performance

Responsibilities
- Ensure safe operation of the mill by training employees in safe practices and eliminating or controlling safety hazards 
- Be aware of VOSH regulations and maintain mill in accordance to government regulations
- Monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards
- Monitor sawing of lumber to ensure quality use and waste is minimized
- Inspect lumber production to ensure the correct production of thick and thin lumber
- Provide direction, development and leadership to mill supervisors
- Enforce mill organization and housekeeping cleanliness around personnel and plant
- Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment (replace and make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary)

Work Environment

7:00AM - 5:00PM
- May be required to work weekends and on call based on needs of the plant

Monday - Friday 

Sawmill and lumber yard type of environment 

Compensation

Pay Rate: $20.00 - $25.00 /Hour
