This positions require a balanced of field and office work. The field work is physically demanding with exposure to all types of weather conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Assistant Forester / Operations Forester:

As Assistant Forester/ Operations Forester, depending on experience level and RPF status, you will report directly to the Project Manager. Working in a team environment, you will be responsible to plan and follow through with annual silviculture obligations, complete operational site plans and assist with higher level operational plans, timber reconnaissance and development, operational planning, permit acquisition, government and First Nations liaison, and contract administration and supervision. You will be based out of Courtenay, requiring travel to WCTC operations throughout Vancouver Island and Coastal BC.

Qualifications

• University Degree in Forestry or related science program preferred
• RPF preferred or RPF eligible (FIT)
• 3+ years Coastal BC Forestry Experience
• General understanding of Forestry Regulations
• Silviculture Surveyor Accreditation would be an asset
• Good planning and organizational skills
• Experience with Cengea Resources, Survey Wizard/ Snap, GPS/ GIS Arc info and knowledge of EBM will be considered an asset
