The Opportunity

We have an immediate opening for an Area Forester at our Nanoose Bay office, reporting to the Forestry Operations Manager.  This position requires strong analytical and interpersonal skills to effectively work across multiple teams within a dynamic company environment.   With an office based out of Nanoose Bay, travel will be required throughout the company’s operating areas with a diverse range of responsibilities including:

  • Planning and supervision of operational silviculture programs

  • Assisting the coordination of salvage, deactivation, and forest inventory programs

  • Working closely with staff and contract field crews to ensure environmental and safety standards are achieved

  • Liaise with the public, government agencies, and other stakeholders as required

  • Project management as assigned

  • Participating in preparation of budgets, accruals, and forecasting

Qualifications

  • Registered, or eligible for registration with the Association of BC Forest Professionals.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Self-starter with a minimum of 2 years related work experience

  • Knowledge of certification systems and relevant legislation

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience with Genus Resources, Map Window, ArcGIS, Plant Wizard, and SNAP would be an asset
