Rutter Urban Forestry is a Thunder Bay tree care services contractor with a solid record of high standard of practice, great customer service, and above all a passion for the Urban Forest. We are seeking to expand our operations by adding a full-time Arborist/ Arborist Apprentice.

This person should be highly self motivated and able to communicate/work well as part of a team. The candidate should also possess a strong interest in the natural urban environment, ecology, and trees and should enjoy a physically active job. Any experience with chainsaws, heavy equipment, working aloft or physically intensive jobs would be considered an asset. We require that any prospective candidates have at least a G-class driver’s license.

Term and Hours:

• 8 Month full-time seasonal position

• Minimum 40 hours/week

• With the potential for additional Arborist Apprenticeship training through Humber College.

Responsibilities for this position will include but may not be limited to:

• Learning the ropes, tools, knots, and rigging techniques used to safely work in trees

• Chipping and disposing of tree parts or debris (branches and wood)

• Maintaining and caring for equipment/tools • Raking and cleaning of various job sites

• Learning about tree structure, physiology, and processes along side experienced arborists

• Work as part of a crew while pruning shrubs, pruning trees, removing trees, fertilizing trees, or grinding tree stumps

• Friendly and courteous interaction with clients/public on a daily basis

Compensation

Rate of pay for this position will depend on the candidate's qualifications. We offer full benefits for employees after their first year of employment and pension plan contributions after their second year.
